Gascompressorstation Wijngaarden

For a gas compressor station at Wijngaarden, a vegetation and maintenance plan is drawn as a continuation of the landscape design. In this plan the desired image plays a central role. To reach this image, the plan provides the required vegetation and maintenance for all different parts.

In November 2010 the implementation of the landscape, surrounding the technical parts of the gas compressor station area, has been started,. In the beginning of 2011 the buildings are erected in covering colors, following the proposal of Brons + partners. Digging the ditches and creating the natural banks in the wet peat soil is well underway, just as the construction of the several paths. During spring 2012 the vegetation will be planted. Brons + partners will monitor this implementation.

The vegetation surrounding the station serves several functions. The unwanted visual connection from the outside towards the technical station is broken, the vegetation will provide habitat to various species within the local flora and fauna, biodiversity will be increased and the opportunities for qualitative recreation will be enhanced. The vegetation is specifically chosen to achieve these goals. The vegetation varies from reed beds and natural banks to indigenous bushes, willows and boundary vegetation of the plots consisting of alder trees.
