Supervision Realization dike reinforcement t Gein

After years of preparation, the reinforcement of the dike along the beautiful River Gein has been started. In this long lasting plan process Brons + partners has operated in commission of the water board. The water board had a set of technical requirements and the inhabitants wanted to keep the spatial qualities of the dike, known as a beautiful river landscape.

During the plan process we searched with all the involved parties for new, creative solutions and alternatives. Finally, solutions were found to protect this River area against inundation and to keep the spatial qualities of the River and her according vegetation and private houses.

In March 2014 the first tree has been planted within the context of the reinforcement of the dike along the River Gein. This milestone was celebrated with e flash back on the process with the involved parties. Waternet changed her plans to come towards the wishes of the inhabitants, who live along this beautiful river accompanied by dikes with a lot of vegetation. By changing the original plans in a creative and interactive planning process most of the characteristic vegetation can be maintained instead of being cut. As a result only 200 of the total 4500 trees have to be cut. Brons + partners supervises the execution of the dike reinforcement where they are related to spatial qualities and existing and new vegetation.
